Treatment concepts for socket grafting

چکیده
information about how to manage the extraction socket with regenerative techniques (Barone et al, 2008). This will simplify and lead to more predictable placement of implants in the most ideal position (Cardaropoli, Araújo, Lindhe, 2003; Cardaropoli et al, 2005). The results of a recent study show that acellular dermal matrix (ADM), used as membrane associated with an inorganic bovine-derived hydroxyapatite matrix, with cell binding peptide P-15 (ABM/P-15), can be used to reduce buccal-palatal dimensions compared to the ADM membrane alone, for preservation of the alveolar ridge after extraction of anterior maxillary teeth (Engler-Hamm et al, 2010). Ridge preservation using demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) and a collagen membrane, improved ridge height and width dimensions when compared to extraction alone. These dimensions may be more suitable for implant Treatment concepts for socket grafting

Layered socket Grafting using an anorganic bovine bone mineral-collagen composite.
Following tooth extraction, socket grafts are commonly used to prevent incomplete healing and to optimize the bony site for implant placement (1). Many particulate, composite, and putty-like bone grafting materials either with or without a membrane have been used as socket grafts. This article introduces the layered socket grafting technique for socket grafting without the use of a membrane or ...
متن کاملPostextraction Alveolar Ridge Preservation: Biological Basis and Treatments
Following tooth extraction, the alveolar ridge undergoes an inevitable remodeling process that influences implant therapy of the edentulous area. Socket grafting is a commonly adopted therapy for the preservation of alveolar bone structures in combination or not with immediate implant placement although the biological bases lying behind this treatment modality are not fully understood and often...
متن کاملReview of Socket Preservation Technique
Following extraction of the teeth, the remaining socket heals from the apex toward the crest. When nothing is placed into the socket at the time of tooth removal, the infiltration of soft tissue at the crest often results in facial and crestal bone loss. Many literatures consider socket preservation as a necessity for further esthetic considerations in the pre-prosthetic and corrective procedur...

protocol. Observational1-4 as well as volumetric1,2,5 studies of bone remodeling subsequent to tooth extraction have clearly demonstrated the inevitable reduction in alveolar bone volume that occurs in the absence of clinical interventions to prevent it. The clinical consequences of this process often severely compromise restorative outcomes and/or reconstructive treatment planning. In the case...
متن کاملSocket augmentation: rationale and technique.
The consequences of exodontia include alveolar bone resorption and ultimately atrophy to basal bone of the edentulous site/ridges. Ridge resorption proceeds quickly after tooth extraction and significantly reduces the possibility of placing implants without grafting procedures. The aims of this article are to describe the rationale behind alveolar ridge augmentation procedures aimed at preservi...
